What's
up ya'll? NateKid here. (Pronounced Naked.) It's been a while since we
hit you with an update- so here goes...
If you're wondering why we've been outta touch for a minute, it's because some exciting stuff has been going on. As we began to brave the world of the music biz with airplay on XM satellite radio, 93.9 and WOR some other opportunities revealed themselves to us almost immediately. A couple of young and influential Broadway and major motion picture producers approached us after falling in love with the music. Very soon after we were creating a movie musical using this fusion of music as a home base. J Bean and I suddenly had our long-term dreams staring us in the face. Bean, being the creative genius she is, went to work on a treatment and a screenplay skillfully crafting a fantastic story around the music. Utilizing her days in writer development, she wrote me a wonderful role, while letting me put in my two cents. We have been offered incredible deals for the project by various producers/studios and now it’s finally coming to fruition.... n its due in large part to Bean’s amazing and snow-balling reputation as one of the premier producers in the city. She left her day job as the coordinating producer of “As the World Turns” in order to concentrate on Broadway shows and film. Her movie roster includes “See You in September” (directed by Tamara Tunie from As the World Turns, Broadway, and Law and Order SVU, etc) “Lonely Street” (Starring Jay Mohr and Robert Patrick) and our movie “HARLEM” She has surrounded herself with some of the most successful and influential people in the bid’ness. She’s knocking down all the stage awards Tonys, Drama Desks, American Idiot's cast even won a Grammy for Best Musical! Next stop the Academy Awards and the Grammy’s for my stuff!
Our music, as some of you already know, was being played at AMC theaters in addition to 3,500 independent movie theaters throughout the country. That's millions of hits in one month my fellow music lovers. While the Jenn and her partners are doing their thing I'm busy trying to sharpen and develop myself as an artist...
I’m working on music constantly…this year I completed a jazz album at Avatar Studios. I am super proud of the arrangements and am thrilled with the musicians! David Cook on piano, Dmitry Gorodetsky on upright and guitar and Lieven Venken on drums. They brought it man! We cranked out 11 tunes in under 5 hours, and had never rehearsed! DG and I just made sure that the charts were as clear as possible. We have some wonderful guest vocalists: TV, Film and Tony Winning Star, Alan Cumming, Jazz Diva Jane Monheit. (2 Grammy nominations) and Grammy Winner Lauren Kinhan from the New York Voices. The arrangements are hip and the solos are killing.
So when I am not making music and videos I am doing a number of things to “be the best I can be” such as practicing piano, taking comedy, gymnastic, juggling and various dance classes- (including tap, hip hop, salsa and ballet)... I’m lovin' it...I'm alsovolunteering in Brownsville BKLN which is inspiring. I'm proud of these kids. Last year I did lots of reconnecting with my acting roots and training with reoccurring roles on soap operas and such...Getting ready for this opportunity of a lifetime! In the next update we'll give you the low down on our performances coming up- big and small.
Peace and love,
NateKid
